  1. We went out to climb Foley on Saturday, conditions sucked rain and new snow. The road (Williams Lk.)was clear almost to the parking lot about 1000m where it was blocked by a land slide that you cannot by-pass. We switched to Lady Pk. in hopes the weather would improve. The road up Chipmunk Cr. hits the snow line at about 1200m where we hit the new snow line. There was about 6" to 8" of new snow up there. There is still tons of snow in this area, the medows at spoon lake still have 6 to 8 feet of snow left!!! We climbed up to the ridge and started along until a big black cloud came through with hurricain force winds. Sad to say we got weathered off. Ced.
  2. Made an attempt on Garibaldi last weekend May 25-26. Looking for the optimistic weather for a Sunday summit we forged on through the drizzle & white out up the ridge. Snow started from the last Y turn were they plow to in winter approx 1000m. Still tons of snow at the snowmobile lodge, their measure showed 10 ft. It was an ugly slog and we ended up camping on the ridge just before the pinnicle. Sunday started out promising and by the time we were on the glacier the peak was enveloped in the clouds and a large black cloud was making its way up the Howe Sound so we called it a day. Couldn't see if the bergshrund was open but judging by all the snow it should be. Cheers. Ced.
  3. Try a pair of Ferrata pants, there are great for summer and warmer winter days. You can pick them up at MEC. Cheers Chris.

I'm heading down from Vancouver to climb Hood this weekend (south route). Anyone know a close place to camp? Cheers Ced.
