  1. With the weather and conditions we had, I came home and promptly started planning short overnights with my five-year old son. It was too close a call for this creaky wannabe/nevergonnabe.
  2. Lowell and Mike: I'm thinking maybe I could get a sponsorship from the Boy and Girls Club of Bellevue, which I have sponsored a little bit through United Way. Maybe then I could call myself an Athletic Supporter! What do you think? Juan Charp
  3. I can speak to the Ice Cliff as of last weekend. We had cold temps on Sat. and didn't leave the car until 8:45 as we wanted to get an idea of what the weather would do. Our hunch was completely wrong, but in any event, we climbed the Ice Cliff on Sat., and topped out at 6:00 for a planned bivi. However, we were stuck in a horrible storm on the S. facing slope at 8,700'. The route was made much more demanding than we expected by the high winds (30-40 mph?), heavy snowfall, and near continuous spindrift. The snow was very hard; mostly front pointing and double tooling all the way up the couloir. The cliff itself is no big deal right now (ascend on the left). The schrund below the couloir is also passed on the left right now. I don't agree that you need to leave so early for the route, but then again we had cold temps. It might be less safe in the kind of heat we had this past week. Good luck and be safe. John Sharp
  4. My nephew has climed there several times. E-mail me at jsharp@windermere.com if you want to talk to him. He lives on Mercer Island. John Sharp
  5. The best titty bar, with several full bars, is the Bustop (sp?) in Boulder. A must visit. Beautiful co-eds and plenty to drink. John
  6. I'm not entirely sure what you mean here. We took the ridge route from the start. Camped around 9,000 ft. or so due to late start. Lots of camp sites built between there and 10,000. Then you just follow the ridge, staying below and left of it as I recall. Then you hit Misery Hill. Does this help? We never roped up. Were I to do it again, I would take aluminum crampons and a light axe. Maybe a short rope and light harness just in case, but that's it. Have fun! John Sharp
  7. What do you call a guy with no arms or legs who is lying on a doorstep. Matt. Erik: I'll be Jose. You be Hose "B." No way we'll get confused with any of these Matts.
