  1. Cloudy or wet weather...turn around? Hell no, just go east where it's dry and climb away.

    work!?

Voice/Data product sales for a co. in Seattle.
  4. The toughest...waiting in a stark white room, as a man cloaked in white, grimly entered and opened a long steel drawer where my brother lay, lifeless, with a tag on his toe. A late spring snow slide pushed him over a cliff as he hiked to Snow lake to celebrate his 24th b-day in '84. I guess you could say fortunately for him, he was unconscious while the snow suffocated him. Then the service; walking into a room in need of sympathy, while the dead lay, dressed at their best, on wheels in the corner of the room. Life comes and goes, best we pack it full.
  5. Hey Christopher, yes, thanks for the info on this site, it's fun, although I get less work done. Was looking at some options in the N. cascades, but the weather seems to be deteriorating for this weekend on the west slopes. Possibly Wa. Pass, or Stuart, Dragontail would be cool since I have heard so much about it on these threads; but definately wherever the sun is shining! Btw, glacier peak was boring, same long trail and route, did it because my buddy begged me and he didn't want to do a fun route. I was thinking about David's flags at camp and thought maybe I should have one that says '4:20 Camp' and those that partake can share doobies and stories...what do you think? What do you guys have planned for a climb?
  6. I just don't get it, more often than not I see these robust woman cramming themselves into skin tight legings. Do they think it's attractive? With 50% of americans overweight and 25% obese, there isn't a day that passes where I'm not reminded how fortunate I am to have the drive to stay fit. Ever notice that really large woman like to drive small cars, especially those little 4x4 suzuki toys? Large men on the other hand don't seem to have this need to feel small. Just a thought, like strickland, I'm bored. But really, I have always wondered. I appoligize if I offend anyone or their mothers.
  7. Maybe we should reschedule since the allstar game is tonight, it's going to be crazy traffic, I would rather come down on Thurs. Maybe we could find a place in Seattle so all those that hate the burbs don't have to be intimidated or whatever the problem seems to be. It's amazing folks just can't meet for a beer without bitching about the location, loose your hangups folks.
  8. Does anyone have any recent info on the north face of Buckner?
  9. well beck, do you think any of these homers are going to show up for a brewski or what? It should be a good time had by all, I think beck mentioned he was buying the first round, last one to show up buys the rest See you there!
  10. Nolanr, I was refering to nookie in the brush with my @#*!!. Hurray, hurray, its the 8th of May, outdoor intercouse day...I'm sure you've heard that one before. Of course, that's just to start the season. Did you get out this weekend? Glacier peak was the usual, a hell of a lot easier than my first trip 8 yrs ago when I wore plastics on the approach like a novie.(novice) Dug the register out of the snow and ice, a great time had by all!
  11. never mind that last question, I just put it together. Hope I can keep up w/him.
  12. well spoken Mike! I think we all had a good laugh except Gordy. Those marmots are vicious, recommended to hang any not being used gear in that area.
  13. I luv skinny dippin! It's been awhile, last time was yang-yang lakes and white rock lakes. Tank lakes is a favorite, never have seen a soul. The joy of skinny dippin after a climb, nothing like it; next to @#!!
  14. highclimb, you should come along and remind us how to be civil, maybe a root beer would suffice. Can we do this thing before Sept? I may be movin to OR. And wouldn't mind meeting folks before the season expires.
  15. geez, I didn't mean to get anyone fired up about dogs and wilderness etc. Was just looking for climbing partners, lets forget about the dogs and return to climbing.
  16. That was me, and Shasta was cool and friendly as always..tell these guys not every dog is vicious. Nothing like a cold one after a long day eh? It was cool meeting you guys, did you go back this past weekend? I'm heading into Glacier peak this weekend, leaving tomorrow...anybody game? Thanks for the emergency coffee!

    Seattle: Chest Beaters

why do we need to boast such things as 10b? It's one thing if it's an accomplishment that you really worked at, it's another to talk shit when you still have you're feet on the ground. I'm proud of the climbs I have completed, but hope I don't come across as 'I just bagged that peak, how bout you?' as if 'what do you have to say for yourself?' I would say it's about the magnificent peaks and terrain, combined with the physical challenge that we pursue these places. Leave the attitudes at home...we are all in pusuit of the same pleasure gained with climbing. What gives with these folks being anal about having others join in? Has the click mentality from high school not been shed?
  18. that is simply a smily face, a way to say 'good times' or take no offense. What were you thinking anyway...? Now that I realize Tacoma is the party option, group camping, (not sex)sound better, away from all the pollutants and then strickland will have to drive even furthur to meet himself some new friends. Actually, then we won't have to worry about 20 drunk drivers trying to find their keys, nor a yard full of mountaineering tents looking like a mounties camp w/too much crap as usual. For you cheezheads out there take no offense, we be referring to the Mountaineers.
  19. Yes, I'm for the mountains as location, wherever! The Roanoke? Well, I suppose I could sneak in w/out running into someone I know, since I grew up there, folks still live there, I don't know why. I barely escaped. Really aside from the pretentious attitudes that prevail, it's a nice place...till paul allen moved on. -another smiley face here- I don't know how you guys got legs out of that anyway, but we need not go there. Goodluck finding a carpool! So, the question remains when? I'm sure most people are booking their weekends w/climbs, wonder if we can really make this fabby idea work?
  20. I'm game for a session! It's up to you now Eric, when and where? I don't know if the camping thing is as easy as simply bowls and brews at your place? Or, a smokey bar somewhere. Do you have ample space in your yard for overintoxicated yahoos to set up their tents, sounds like it's a strong possibility from this group. If strickland comes up from OR. he may have trouble finding any friends willing to let him crash, poor guy. Let's not talk about it, lets do it already! I'll bring some bc grown fatties to share...\"/ Nothing like it!
  21. Hi Matt, in response to populated areas such as Muir. It's more to the tune of, no dogs in national parks, kind of has a ring to it no? We have three amazing national parks in Wa. before I owned a dog, I would have thought nothing of it, I have to admit it would be nice to take them along.
  22. roboclimber, just took my dog up Mt. Larabee yesturday, I think it was a bit much, but she made it, kind of freaked out on the summit scramble though. I think it's just a notch over safety for both dogs and those around when there is loose rock just waiting to lurch at those below. Alpinek said he heard there are sun glasses for dogs out there somewhere, worth investigating for sure. Sounds rediculous, but for all the winter and spring skiing days, let alone summer climbs on snow, I don't believe a dogs retina varies that much from our mere mortal selves. The question remains...how long will they last on the dog? Up for a dog friendly climb/hike anytime...is it 4:20 already? Behave yourselves ruthless climbers. \"/

    YO

Glad to hear you're still climbing! I am surprised to hear Helen is living with someone, hope it works out for her. I got the 'bug' to get out of the city last year and the ranger job was the ticket, although I have to say it's damn quiet up here sometimes, but location to the mountains makes up for it. Never climbed w/that chick again after Baker, I should have seen it coming, no whimps allowed!! Glad all is well with you, funny to run into you here, small world, or I should say climbing community.
  24. Thanks Matt, I'll heed your advise. As for the ski/mountaineering w/the pooch, Sulphide on Shuksan is great early Spring before the road completely melts, no rangers, and few people, did it this Easter, saw no-one for 2 beautiful days. Baker you can bring your dog, my pooch summited last summer, just complaints from other climbers about being unroped w/a dog, I was skiing the route. Close to Seattle, lots of awesome stuff at Chrystals backcountry. Pilchuk or Dickerman in the winter can be done. As for others, I'm still investigating options.
