  1. I don't have any plans yet for August. I might bite. Yes Shuksan is a great climb. I did it two years ago on sulfide glacier. The crevasses do get big late. Standard gully up is safe. I tried to be a hotdog and climb off route. The route I choose was on a slab of death over high exposure. Good thing my fingers were dry and my boots sticky. Unless you like to push it stay roped or stay on route. I could talk my buddy into an August climb. Rainier and Shuksan back to back can be physical. How much time do you plan between the two? Anyway sounds good. [ 04-10-2002: Message edited by: roboclimber ]
  2. OK The season is still early and things change. I'm moving the Pershing climb up one week to 4/13/02. My "Outdoor Emergency Care "class is on the 20th of April. Can't miss that. I'm getting the boots broke in and am running the hills to get ready. Arlen are you still up for this? My buddy Enduroman is in.

  4. Theres' this real cool place I recently found for great telemark skiing, man I can't believe how accessible it is. The snow was great and the views on a clear day are fantastic and its not too far away from Mount Rainier. Here is the best way to get there, just follow the signs for Crystal Mnt.
  5. Oh the mountaineers, let me count the ways they get lost. Oops I ran out of fingers and toes. I went on four climbs with them and their leaders got lost once, climbed the wrong mountain twice and one time even chickened out. When I told them I climbed peaks solo they thought I was a bad person. I say screw them and their herd mentality and their rules and regulations. I climb to be free and have fun and I don't get lost.
  6. I plan on heading to Mount Pershing 18 May at first light. Stefan and Arlen, I'll keep you posted. Email me for details, like who, what, when and where kind of stuff. It should be fun. By the looks of it this is not a heavily traveled mountain.
  7. Going to Pershing in May sometime. Pershing is the next valley over from Mount Washington. I have never climbed it. I just found the route last summer and am ready to stand on top. From the data I looked up it's a class 4 scramble maybe some easy class 5 near the top. I'm up for a free climb. It will probably be a long one day climb. If any one has ever been there the info will be greatly appreciated
  8. I was at O'Hare airport in Chicago, of course and I heard a page for Sir Edmond Hillary.
  9. Man some of you people crack me up. I can't sleep so I"m up reading this Cascade stuff. I'm leaving on vacation today to Montana to hang out in some mountains there. Got to chill, away from the crowds here. Anyway, hey Lisa. Dogs are fun to hike and climb with. Sometimes more fun than the people I climb with. The problem with dogs is their paws don't hold the rope well when they belay. Back in 1994 I climbed Mount Baker with my trusty Yellow Lab Dusty. To this day I cant believe she made it but she did. She was a real trooper back then. She needed help once near the top at a place where it got a little steep. Roped her up for about 20 feet. I did feel sorry for her when snow started balling up on her paws. I now hike with Timber. He is smaller and very agile. Lisa lets bag a peak sometime.
