I am talkin' all kinds of climbing. Rudy 's comment made me realize now that 60m ropes are standard, my fav lenght is 27m.
70m ropes are just too heavy.
I agree with Willy Nilly what I don't agree with is that there is much skill involved in developing routes. In fact too much "experience" can be a problem.
The attached graph is the result of an incredibly detailed study. A related study revealed a similar curve when route quality was related to developer effort.
As if route development was some difficult endeavor. Lots of the I-90 crowd routes suck. Lots are good. This despite their "wealth'" of experience.
If the rock is so chossy, maybe the developers did a good job making them as safe as they are.
It was a grade VI at the Safe this weekend. Brooms and the sun were out on Sunday. A few thousand Canadians were about celebrating Canada Day in the best manner possible – AT A BALL PARK!
They were pretty loud and friendly lot – until the bottom of the first.
For those interested there were lots of studly firemen about (By the way those seeking studly firemen should go to Pioneer Square next weekend) but baseball women are the best! Hey it was singles night over the weekend. Oddly the only climbers I recognized were women!
