  1. Look for an analog option that you can flip to from digital(you might have to select an option at time of subscription) where you can switch to from digital with most of those carriers. Analog will carry better in the mountains, and usually digital is line of site (electronically), which means you would get reception if your provider had a good cell placement if you used digital. An analog option will give you more reception, but you would have to select it to make it work. Remember to turn off the phone if you are in digital mode in the mountains, if you go into seeking or roam it will drain your batteries.

  2. I'm heading to Sheridan, WY at about 6:30 am Tuesday...should be plenty of good waving there.

Last time there recently the one finger off the steering wheel is the norm...index finger that is...

  3. a small dinner of snacks, and a couple bars for the next day. No water though. We bombed down burgundy col east toward Chianti and found trickles in the ice. Thank you whiskey bottle It was the only thing small enough to collect our water. With full bottles we slogged back to the col and had another minimal bivy. It was great.

  5. Sobo said this in a thread that was a bad joke, somehow I hope this guy is ok....

"There is currently ONE search (not a rescue) in effect, for one Zachary Weston, who became listed as overdue on 8/12. The search will be called off at the end of the day. This is the search that I was referring to in another post, as I believe that this is the guy that went up from Comet Falls. Seven rangers are looking for him from Point Success to Camp Hazard, with aerial reconnaissance as well.

And the number I provided above is NOT 360-569-2210 anymore. It has been changed to 360-569-2211. That is all."

PLEASE DO NOT JOKE about people missing in the mtns.

    Drink a beer instead.

  6. I've gone up Ruth several times without a rope (take ax) and it didn't seem like crevasses were an issue, if you follow the route from the highest rock outcrop veering slightly south-southwest to the summit. There were crevasses to the climbers right and left.
