Happened to us once at Moab, above Potash Rd. We were scoping out a route to climb and *BAM* a chute opens up about 500ft straight above us! I know there is a popular Jeep trail up there, my first thought was that it was a Jeep, rectangular shape of chute. Which way do we run! Scared the crap out of us! Luckily all four landed safely on the road.
  2. Hey Mike, Are you still looking here for partners? Send me an email to ureach. I lost yours. Rick
  3. The first stop of my road trip is going to be Smith. I plan on arriving late wednesday, August 19. Looking for partners for thursday, August 20 possibly thru the weekend. I am climbing up to easy .10's, sport or trad and would like someone with similar abilities. If your interested PM me here and I will get in touch. After Smith will be City of Rocks/Castle Rocks where I will also be looking for partners. Rick
  4. Very well put rob! I remember the CC on Stuart being a loose dustfest when I did it in July 2003. Especially on the way down. Another good day trip might be Three Fingers. A little more variety than Pugh.
  5. Anyone available for some sport climbing in the .10 range at Exit 38. I was thinking of the Gun Show area around noon. Rick
  6. Check your PM's.
  7. Partner needed for monday at Exit 38. Looking to do routes in the .9 to .10c range. PM me or answer back here. Rick
  8. Fred is pretty hard of hearing, I guess that explains why he didn't acknowledge my "Howdy" along the trail as I was leaving Exit 38 that day.
  9. Yeah, A BIG THANKS to all who maintain these climbing area's that everybody enjoy's! I also donated a bunch of bolts, quick links and hangers that I had stashed away to Leland and he was much appreciative.
  10. I was climbing at Exit 38, off of the RR trail on a route called "Won't Get Fooled Again" last thursday. There was what appeared to be a Peregrine Falcon squaking loudly just above me and to the left of the route. Does anyone know if there are Peregrine's there? Or is it another specie's of Falcon. Sure looked like the photo of the one on Outer Space.
  11. What a great route!! My girlfriend and I did the route a few years ago when we were road tripping alot. I remember running the chimney pitch together with another pitch and having to do some long runouts because I had used up all my gear protecting those two pitches. Great fun! Hope to get back there someday. Luckily we had no weather issues except for a little snow at the base we had to traverse thru to get to the route. Thanks for bringing back fun memories. Oh yeah, a warning to anyone who climbs there, HANG YOUR PACKS! Or take them with you. The critters will chew thru just looking for food. Rick
  12. Maybe the day I was at the Cave Area, 5-8-09, there was a "hatch" of Ticks? If that's what they do. I was at The Bend 5-19-09. As I approached the belay spot for the climbs to the right of Ed's Jam I encountered a Rattlesnake stretched out waiting for the sun. It took me a little coaxing to get it to move along after it coiled up and rattled at me. Never saw it again the rest of the day. And NO ticks either.
  13. Nice work guys! And David, I'll bet you never thought you wished you were a Blue Bag before!
