  6. Barrel Mountaineering may give you the scoop if you call them. They seemed pretty cool. Just tell them you are from Idaho or Alaska Do NOT say you are a microsoftie from Seattle. You can also call Northern Lights Trading. There is a ton of frozen stuff around Bozeman and cheap hotels too. You can stay at a unabomber camper if you don't mind 4 degrees temps in the camper.
  7. 12 hours to Bozeman if grandma's driving. 10 if you can keep your foot in it and average 70. Of course you lose an hour when you get to MT. Temp in Bozeman this morning was 4
  8. thanks pard. I thought there was a Snowpark or Snowpac pass needed but, I was confused without enough coffee yet this am...
  9. So what's the deal with parking up at alpental? Do I need to buy another thingy to hang in the windshield besides the NW Forest pass and Mt. Rainier pass?

Compensating for lack of class, climbing skillz, good looks, intellegence, you name it I gotta compensate. Except for my vehicle haw haw! I am really impressed with your 93k you probably put on driving up and down I-5 and performing drive by shootings at exit 38. Try to work the truck a little, try draggin a 2000lb log through a swampy medow at 6000' elevation. I'll come so we can get your truck back to town for some fixin or just drag it to the wrecking yard where it belongs. I bet the chicks like yours better though and THAT, is really the bottom line
  11. Alrighty then. I won't dispute that on paper Chevy's have the edge. I got an idear. Lets go out in the woods and have a REAL competetion. I can garantee your puny kid's truck wont be at the finish line, unless I tow you there. Oh yeah, I got a new truck.
  12. I'll perform some recon and report back.
  13. woo hoo!
  14. The Choppin Block or Joe's? They are both right there.

  16. quote: Originally posted by nolanr: Lake 22 has a very high bumbly factor. I don't know of any idiot getting themself killed up there, but then there aren't a lot of objective hazards. Several sluffs off of the big face on the opposite side of the lake were seen as well as hikers tracks through the fresh avvy debris. Most people seemed to think you were supposed to hike around the lake which put you in the debris field for 400 - 500'. There were also hiker tracks across the partially frozen surface of the lake which was fairly thin. IMO I didn't bring my ice tools so we didnt venture onto the lake for climbing back out of the water. It sure is tough being a know it all.
  17. Any of you who are Robots, PM or email me, I'm interested in going climbing before 10 am sometime with someone who doesent have to stop every 10 minutes to puke, catch thier breath or blaze a doobie. But, I do like Zekes burgers and don't like men in spandex. [ 01-14-2002: Message edited by: Bronco ]
  18. I actually carried a can of Rainier Beer up Mt. Rainier last summer thinking I would drink it on the summit but didn't feel like it and nobody else did so, I carried it back down and drank it in the parking lot.
  19. Walked up Alaskan from the Ferry Terminal to Pike Place Market on Saturday afternoon. Never in my short life have I seen so much North Face apparel and hiking boots. I thought it was a climbers convention or sumthin'. I don't hang out in cities unless required to, so I was somewhat surprised. Pretty good chowder at Ivars though. Anyway, we decided with the forecast for good weather (which didn't happen) to go on a hike up to Lake 22 in the Mt. Pilchuck area. Pretty gloomy conditions, wet snow on the ground and dripping out of the trees on your head, cloudy with temps in the mid 30s. Almost everbody up there was having a great time in basketball shoes, flannel shirts, levi jackets and jeans soaked to the knees.
  20. still quite a bit of brush showing up to 2,500'. Above that, on the north side of the hill, the vegetables are mostly covered.
  21. I only got 4, whew! that was close. How about driving a SUV?

  23. cris_w: It appears the "FOCUS on your business" book on your desk is not very effective. I only say this because you have a large toy taking up most of the space where you might do "business work". If I might suggest, get a seperate table in your office for toys, beer and climbing books. It works for me.
  24. Hey there Mr. Adamson: Since you are in flatlander city, maybe you need someone to take care of your rack. I'd be happy to if you want to ship it out. [ 01-10-2002: Message edited by: Bronco ]
  25. Thought I'd let you folks know Sports Replay in Sultan is also going out of business and has a killer sale going. 40% off of already reasonably priced goods. Was out there today and noted: 3 sets of mostly micro cams, lots of biners, nice ice axes (I couldent justify another), a pin or 2, some quick draws, nuts, hexes, 2 primus himalayan stoves, some big ol' "high altitude" overboot type things. lots of ski gear and goofy off-brand outer wear that looks like pretty decent quality, several climbing books, some harnesses, shovels, some climbing ropes....... You can call Tony if you are looking for something specific (360) 793-4273
