Ben and Jason, you guys have been busy. Looks like Josh hasn't been on the latest outings. Did he have enough after Colchuck?

No, he has just been focused on work and didn't have the time off. He missed out on some good trips. There is always next year and anyhow he is making more money than me now. mad.gif

Ok, three ways. Actually, I'm thinking about going back to school, most likely in another state.

Kansas? I hear they have some good ski mountaineering there. With Spring break, Chrismas break, and summer you should be able to put firsts down on everything...

Also, the Easy Pk-Mineral Mtn-Ruth Mtn traverse looked great for a skiier! Anyone done it?

Yea, Ben and I did it a month ago. We will have a TR on it in a week or so. As for easy. Like you said, "It looked good on paper?" Mineral Mtn is more of an obstacle than it looks.

Too bad you didn't make it. That place is beautiful especially camping on perfect pass. Next week you will have to take two sick days I guess.

  4. I was just up there 2 weeks ago, so here is the key. About a mile and a half after luna camp is a stick in a log with an arrow scratched in it. From there go down and slighly to the left until you are at the river. The log is there. The trail has been maintained almost all the way there too. Enjoy. I spent 9 days in the area over two weeks and was absolutely blown away.

  5. The approach to adams is a morning stroll, we had 10-16 hour days for 4 days. Our route was something of our own construction, still, anyway you look at it anything in the pickets is an everest of an approach compared to adams, especially with skis. Ask Bill, he'll tell you how it is...

  6. cool.gif Okay, I have friday off. I have a really important doctors appointment up North. It's serious. But the doctors tell me I'll get through it okay. I was advised to get lots of sun and some physical activity. My boss understands.

  7. I think you need to leave. Now! You're sick. You're 2nd cousin on your uncle's side up in hickville USA resently passed away! Your DOG is very, very sick and you must take him down to the vet. Any reason at all. Well, since you are at work anyway, what the hell would you be doing if you had this week off? Other than snaf.gif of course...

  8. Szyjakowski said>>>>dude, if you ski TC, you probably will take out ten cc.comers...not really a good idea...don't you think. wait, maybe ray will be there....>>>>>>>>

If you take out 10 CC.comers, that would be all of us. blush.gif I've been thinking about that sucker. Setting up the anchor on that kind of slope would be interesting though. You first! Hey sky, you and me. Let's go. Leave the rope, crampons, and axes at home though. We're going light... cool.gif

  9. Thanks. That was a rad trip! I think the NBC is going to be pretty good for quite sometime. I expected the route to have people on it. Turns out we were alone. Good thing! I don't think any other group would've appreciated the debris we cut off on the way down (okay, we would've waited). Ha, we even caught a varmint in our sluff and watched it go halfway down the couloir before it escaped hellno3d.gifsnaf.gif Maybe in my next life, I'll be a vamint on skis.

  10. iain?

Why use Leather boots. There are plastic boots out there for tele that are light and keep your feet warm. What I hated about the leathers most was wet, cold feet all the fricken time. There is no need to go back to 210's and leathers to tour. I would get a light plastic boot and some 185's to 90's. This would give you the ability to have fun if and when you have to go downhill. 210's in crust will change your philosophy of "back in the day" really fast. For me, I am never going back to my 210 tuas and leathers.

  11. Ha, I agree AlpineK. I left mine at home too. I guess I need to bring my "...weapons of mass destruction," next time I head up there (just in case).

  12. 10 miles or so from the parking lot to Cascade Pass is a big log. If you head up there bring a big chainsaw and if you cut it out let me know. Not cool to come upon that sucker at 5 in the morning.

  13. We have fun. I wish I didn't have a job, then I would have more fun. It is good to hope.

I will probably climb stormy this spring. We're pretty slow on getting stuff up on the website, but if you bring Stormy up again sometime this spring, I could give you an idea on how it is shaping up.

  14. There is a Shrund at the bottom, but it offers little challenge. There is definately some ice in fall (I can't vouch for the quality. I'm usually in search of softer stuff). There will also be a few hundred feet of rock in the middle.

    Enjoy,

  15. Ha, you will have 8 miles of road to skin right now and in deep snow to boot. Unless the rain melts a lot more snow than I think it will, I wouldn't consider it right now rolleyes.gif. I was at Ore Creek snowpark on Sunday and there is no driving past there. Try it in December or better yet wait 'till July cool.gif. Climbing Adams this time of year is a pain unless you happen to own a snowmobile or a lot of free time.
