I make these knobs for those who want to update their non-knob screws (BD Turbos, possibly other makes). $3 each + shipping. You simply epoxy them to the hanger. No, they don't fold down, but they would snap off before they would damage a rope in the event they got snagged in a fall. Available in either white plastic or knurled aluminum spinner. No functional difference - the aluminum are a touch lighter, the plastic a bit easier for me to make in quantity.

Yes, it was my DIY version of the Grivel (or maybe it was Petzl, I forget) winder. I think they called it the Turbine or something like that. It was the cat's ass for cranking in knobless Cassin and Grivel screws, and I had it on a retractor cord so it hung close against my chest. Only problem was that the thing only worked clockwise, so my seconds hated the screws. Eventually I made a counter clockwise version of it for removing the screws, but by then I was pretty much racking all knobbed screws.
