Swiss-made old ice axe from REI

I bought this old ice axe at a yard sale. After cleaning it up a bit I found "Recreational Equipment" stamped on it. On the other side of the pick it is tamped with "Made Switzerland" with some other writing I can't make out. The axe looks pretty old and wonder if some can give me a date on when it was made. Any info would be appreciated.
