Having a new Dell with XP on it, I'm not sure that it would have been necessary. Except for the afore-mentioned IE and its buggy companion, Outlook Express, I rarely if ever have any problems. If anyone else out there is in the market for a cheap laptop, lat time I was at Boeing Surplus they had some pretty decent Dells there for $400.
