tomaso Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 A holiday trip to the Methow Valley and Mazama is in the plans. I checked temps and it was not too cold. Anyone knew what's in down there? I just wonder whether to pack ice gear or skis only. Cheers, Tomas. Quote
obwan Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 It has to be cold for a couple weeks for ice to be in, skiing is probably your best bet. Check with the locals at 509-996-3194. www.ncmountainguides.com has the latest ski conditions. Quote
tomaso Posted December 17, 2012 Author Posted December 17, 2012 Thanks! Seems like a cold week (not too cold though) with a little sun this week. Any dry tool routes just in case? I've heard there are some dry-tool (mixed?) lines in the Czech Gully, but I can't find any info about pro and difficulty. Quote
obwan Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 The cliffs at Fun Rock one mile east of the Mazama store on Lost River Rd. are top ropeable and obviously could be used for dry tooling. I think the store has a route guide to peek at. Quote
tomaso Posted December 19, 2012 Author Posted December 19, 2012 The Fun Rock is a sweet and favorite rock climbing area. I really have no intentions to make my marks down there. I'll check with NCMG about specific dry tool/mix routes. Quote
Alex Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 It tends to be off the grid and I only rarely get updates on the Methow unless I go myself, so good luck and tell us what you find! It's a magical place regardless of whether you send. Quote
