ShreddinHood
Hi all, I'm new to this site, as I'm new to climbing as well. I'm planning to climb St. Helens on sunday with a friend, and was wondering is it possible to snowboard down at this time of year? I've been looking into current conditions sites and what not but can't seem to find anything definitive.
Water
just a guess but I'd say yes, if you do not mind carrying it down lower for a while.
Seamstress
The boarding will be excellent. The snow should be gone below 4,000'. It gets flat there anyway.
ShreddinHood
Thanks for the input! Looks like they're calling for possible showers on sunday. Will that effect avalanche danger?
Seamstress
No. The route is well consolidated. The freezing level will be higher than the summit all weekend. The snow may be wet and mushy, and you may choose to stick to the exposed rocks for much of the climb up.
Seamstress
Saw a TR - sounds like many had a great day.
