Son_of_Caveman Posted November 23, 2002 Posted November 23, 2002 The world scene may be pretty bleak, but we certainly have a lot to be thankful for at home. With a serious president in the White House and a majority in both houses of Congress, our ship of state rejoices in a sound hand at the helm and fair winds aloft. Despite the general moral decline in our society, we still have great things to appreciate - the first of which is having been born on the right side of the Holy War. We have been reading up on Islam and discover that while Western Civilization is far from perfect, it is infinitely better in all respects than that which looms "East of Suez." We may need to clean up our act, but at least we are in the right theater. cooper Quote

Son_of_Caveman Posted November 23, 2002 Author Posted November 23, 2002 It's sunny and nice in the Camano Island area. The water's flat and the morning crabbing was good. 6 keepers. Quote
jordop Posted November 23, 2002 Posted November 23, 2002 I had 5 dungees in one trap three weeks ago in the Gulf Islands. The secret? A nice big piece of prime rib I dug out of the depths of my parents' freezer and left out to rot for a week They're basically just submarine seagulls, which are basically just airborn rats . . . Maybe rat tastes pretty good with garlic and butter, I dunno? Quote
Son_of_Caveman Posted November 23, 2002 Author Posted November 23, 2002 I've never heard of using beef for bait, but what the hell, why not? I've found salmon heads to be the overall best dungeness bait. Not easy getting them all the time though, so turkey/chicken wings and legs work in a pinch. Considering the price of the prime rib in those crabs' gullets, they must have been worth around $25 lb. Quote
