billcoe Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 OK, I don't like to post a link to another site to make a story up, but Adam cut a wide swatch around here, is a hell of a nice guy, and he found a sweet lady who digs him and climbing: so they quit work and tooted off to Europe for an extended climbing trip. [/green with envy] These guys are both so much fun to be around. So positive. He goes out of his way to jump on them. We were on Serenity in Yos this spring in between snowstorms, did the 3 pitchs and chose not to do Sons. We bailed due to winds that were growing and had been threatening to blow me nearly off on lead 3rd pitch. They looked even worse higher on the wall, and we were expecting a major storm at any time as the clouds were predominately dark black with a blue sky patch at times and racing over from Glacier Point. I coaxed them over to the Super Slide route, 5 pitches of wind protected 5.9 fantastic crack (we could hear a party on Serenity wailing that they were getting blown off while we were in the sporadic sun and protected a 1/4 mile away). As we are walking down to the car, the sun is dropping or clouding up worse and it's getting cold, and we're done for the day, Adam sees this ugly knash, figures he can use the largest piece we had with us, a #4, in the middle to protect the entire pitch. Hopes he can wrap some slings around chalk stones for natural gear and up he goes saying that it's not the pro it's the mind that counts and this is an easy offwith so he's got it ...mumble mumble mumble mumble he's talking into the OW crack/chimney up he goes..... I'm freaking freezing my ass off in the cold and we've done over 10-11 pitches I'd bet at this point having done Maxines Wall and Peruvian Flake. I'm feeling old and beat and up he goes anyway. It was damned inspiring his "go for it" attitude. Being in the camp with Amy and Adam made the repeated snow, cold and wet we endured most of the trip fun and tolerable. Here's Adam.
