Lisa_D Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Has anyone seen the Tooth area lately and is there snow getting to Pineapple Pass? I just got back from a 2 month bike trip and want to do a relaxed climb close to home tomorrow. But I have no idea what the snow levels are like. It seems like a really late snow season, which is great because there is a lot I can still do this season! Quote
kevino Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 My most current guess based on the weather and my last trip up there a week or two ago...snow across the source lake lookout. clear up to great scott bowl, which will be mostly covered in snow. There was bergschrund that required stepping onto the ledges about 10 ft away from the actual pass itself because the actual pineapple pass had a snow bridge that was overhanging and thin. Hopefully that paints a good picture for you. Quote
ChuckC Posted August 15, 2011 Posted August 15, 2011 Was up on Chair 7/28 and took these shots. Reports are that its going fast now. We did encounter a skier coming down from PP who remarked that there was a sizeable moat near the base of the Tooth. http://www.turns-all-year.com/skiing_snowboarding/trip_reports/index.php?topic=21556.0 Quote
