Winter Posted January 3, 2001 Posted January 3, 2001 This is a total shot in the dark, but does anyone out there have any beta or good stories on the Mulanje in Malawi, Point John on Mt. Kenya, Spitzkoppe in Namibia or crags on the West Cape in South Africa? I'm headed to Africa from Portland on the 24th of Feb and am looking for info on moderate routes in those areas. Thanks! Btw, cool forum without the bs. Quote

rayborbon Posted January 4, 2001 Posted January 4, 2001 I think I would plan a route to the bars in Mombasa! I recommend checkin' out the safaris too. If you do go to attempt Kilimanjaro just don't underestimate how long it might take to climb it. Mt Rainier is puny compared to this thing. Seriously this site looks cool: http://www.personal.u-net.com/~guide/mt-kenya.htm -Ray  Quote
Winter Posted January 4, 2001 Author Posted January 4, 2001 Thanks for the link. How cool does that Diamond Couloir thing look?! Not bad for the equator. Quote

geordie Posted January 5, 2001 Posted January 5, 2001 I was in Kenya and Tanzania a few years ago. I climbed pt. lenana (trekking) on Kenya and have some sweet slides of the diamond couloir. I also climbed the arrow glacier/western breach on Kili. I'm in NH now, but live in Olympia and will happily show you my slides and hook you up with some guides and porters. (guides required on kili). I'll be back jan 22. garomer@aol.com ps keep this africa stuff quiet. most people haven't figured out how much good stuff is over there. Quote
