Ed_Hobbick Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 I would but I'm working. I went up Forbidden West Ridge the other day... pure fun and sun. Quote
Patricia0412 Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I was wondering if you ended up doing this trip and how it went? Quote
genepires Posted August 9, 2011 Author Posted August 9, 2011 did it on sunday and was all good. snow free to the base of serpentine arete and great neve to the saddle. Snow free to the top. 10 hr car to car. Lots of walking. Quote
charlieburnett Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Thinking of heading up it on Saturday. Were the snow conditions typical for this time of year? Crampons, etc? Quote
genepires Posted August 18, 2011 Author Posted August 18, 2011 used lightweight crampons on way up (9am) and did use them on way down but could have gone up at noon without poons. Not sure if it is typical for time of year as I have usually gone there in the spring or fall. Comparing the starts to the dragontail routes, it seems the snow is softer. Quote
