iceaxe23 Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 I love my mamut champ pants for colder climbing (black color) but they are too warm this time of year. I have a pair of "alpine design" brand convertible softshell pants in light tan that I love. I got them at sports authority on clearance for $15 but can no longer find them. They are very comparable to my champ pants but I can zip the legs off and make them shorts. Does any other company make convertible softshell pants? Quote
Julian Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 If you aren't adverse to spending money, I'm pretty sure Beyond Clothing makes customized soft shell pants where one of the options is zippers for converting to shorts (at least they used to). Quote
Water Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 just buy the dang REI Endeavor convertible pants http://www.rei.com/product/808791/rei-endeavor-convertible-pants-mens-32-inseam they are the cats pajamas in my book. love'm for all things 3season $80 if you buy during one of their sales. Le Piston Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 I got a pair of the Endeavor pants this year. It's got a full length vertical zipper, as well as horizontal zipper, so you can take 'em off or put 'em on while wearing boots and crampons. I really like mine, though as Water states, they're not full on 4 season Softshells. I like being able to get shorts or pants from the same garment. Cloudveil used to make a roll-up softshell (Peak or Prospector) pant that I also found worked well for adapting to changing weather/temperatures. Quote
