Z-Man Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Trip: Bonanza Peak - NE Ridge Date: 6/23/2007 Trip Report: This is probably the most terrifying climb I can remember. It didn't help we were there pretty early in the year and much of the ridge still had rime sticking to it. We bailed somewhere around halfway. Spectacular spot, bring your choss balls for this one. curtveld Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 To revive a Berdinka quote: "Good from afar, but far from good". We had the same reaction from a 1991 attempt. It'd take alot of trundling to clean that one up! At least we were able to bail out left and tie onto the standard route and make a summit visit. Quote
Z-Man Posted July 1, 2011 Author Posted July 1, 2011 That explains where that line of rap slingage was going. We thought about following it to see where it went, but decided we would be content to make it back to camp having survived the day. Quote
wayne Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 I enjoyed it, choss and the year after you guys did it. CC TR Quote
Z-Man Posted July 2, 2011 Author Posted July 2, 2011 Yeah, I remember being impressed by the report Wayne. You may remember I asked you about it and you said you weren't sure where you went on the upper ridge. Since you don't have any pics from that stretch I'm still not sure what the ideal route is. The other report I've looked at from Pro Guiding Service doesn't have any photos from the part I'm interested in either. I'm assuming those ropelengths don't lend themselves to comfortable photography. Quote
