Blake Martin Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 I am going to be living near Othello, WA for the next 5 months and I was wondering what the closest climbing to me is. I am going to be staying right on the Potholes Reservoir with no car so I know my options will be limited but what do ya'll think is the best option for me. I remember seeing some sort of guide book on Potholes when I was scouring the internet about a month ago for climbing near me but can't seem to find it again. Any suggestions? Thanks Quote
Dave A. Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Rock Climbs of Central Washington by Rick LaBelle shows climbing at Goose Lake near the potholes. The book was published by Mountain Gear in Spokane and should be available though them. If you don't mind hitchhiking you're close to climbing at Frenchman Coulee (Vantage) and Banks Lake. Dave A. OlympicMtnBoy Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Not much you can get to without a car, but check out Kevin Pogue's webpage for some of the smaller crags over that way. His driving times are from Walla Walla. Â http://people.whitman.edu/~pogue/climbing/climbing_areas.html Quote
stevetimetravlr Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Pretty casual to hitchhike out in that neck of the woods, so Banks lake and Vantage are within reach. Quote
Le Piston Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 You can also find some nice rock climbing at the Royal Columns/Tieton. Quote
