Trip: Hope - Cruel Pools

Trip Report:

JMace and I took the day off work and climbed ~7 of the 8-9 pitches of Cruel Pools before being stopped by a giant gaping hole in the next-to-last pitch or so. We had mostly soloed to that point with one roped pitch on funky mushroomed eggshell ice (~ pitch 3, WI3sketchy shape at the moment).

 

We were able to walk off to climbers right and find a no-rappels-needed descent back to the base albeit at the cost of an old booty stubby screw of Jesses's which chose this time to vanish back into the forest.

 

Gear Notes:

5 screws and 1 60m 8.5mm rope

 

Approach Notes:

5 minutes off the Silver Skagit Road at km2.1
