So whats the difference? i just got a set of vipers, and was just curious what the pros and cons to the diffent tooth styles, thicknesses, etc.

 

what seems to work well, for each discipline?

In general thinner picks penetrate ice more easily than thick picks. Thicker picks are more durable (especially for mixed climbing) than thinner picks. A lot of it is personal preference. I'm pretty sure the Vipers come with the Laser picks which is BD's ice pick. If your just starting ice climbing you might not notice a lot of difference between the picks until you get some days under your belt.
