Good morning. We had a terrific 4 day trip ending yesterday to NCNP. Fished, hiked Sahale and Hidden Lake; but, the weather was not ideal, obviously. This trip was mostly a scout trip, and I can report that I definitely want to make a "big trip" there in the next couple years--9-10 days. When would be the best time of year to best avoid weather and get the best views? I know any time can be bad weather, but I'm guessing late July, August?

Consult tables regarding bright morning moonset around last week of July. This is fairly simple to determine, but the window varies.

A nearly full moon setting around the time of dawn twighlight is a very nice and helpful touch.

Weather around Aug. 1 is nearly always perfect, contrary to rampant bullshit about rain in the Northwest. You want the snow as much as possible to cover the crappy scree to a reasonable extent.

Statistically, last few days of July and the first few days of August has the lowest chance of precipitation and clouds. However, there will be bugs(skeeters principally).

Don't be detuoured by those insects, it will be worth it.

Best of luck!
