Camping Near Static Point

Any recommendations? I heard rumor that there were some sites along the road to the trail head but then I read that no camping is allowed in the watershed area only day use.

Theoretically there's no camping allowed, but the road is full of the area's colorful individuals camping there pretty much all the time.

 

It also says no shooting, and all the signs are riddled with bullet holes, so make of that what you will.
