mr.radon Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 Trip: Mount Rainier - Emmons Date: 6/27/2010 Trip Report: Climbed Rainier from the Emmons/Winthrop route. Brought AT gear to 12K. Tagged the summit and returned to camp on skis. The day before we ski'd the "ramp" and had a great time. Route is in great shape, very direct. No "main" trail has formed so you can pretty much route find to your hearts content Inter was VERY slushy...lots of slides on its sides. Several other skiers left later then us and descended from the summit on skis. They said conditions were great. Approach Notes: Used AT gear after Glacier basin. No ropes needed on AT gear. Inter had a few slides, stay in center. Quote
justinp Posted June 30, 2010 Posted June 30, 2010 Any need to rope up to get to Schurman? You wont need a rope on the Inter Glacier at this time of year. Instead of getting on the lower Emmons where you would need a rope stay on the Inter to the top of the Prow then take the forth class scramble down to Schurman. Staying right when the trail splits down the forth class is a bit easier . Reverse on the way down and enjoy the long glissade down the Inter Quote
goatboy Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 Thanks for confirming, JustinP -- that's what I remembered, but it's been a long time since I was last there. Quote
