Paul_detrick Posted August 13, 2002 Posted August 13, 2002 Went down to Vantage today and it was gone, it all fell down. Quote
Guest Posted August 17, 2002 Posted August 17, 2002 Went there right after the earthquake last year and thought that's what I would see. Every year the exposed pillars of the Sunshine wall should be knocked down and new routes can be put up on the fresh ones. The rock would be better and there would always be something new to do. If you have a truck with a real long winch cable PM me about this project Quote
Fence_Sitter Posted August 31, 2002 Posted August 31, 2002 i gotta f250 its only gotta 351, but just got a new HO motor and 4 bbl...smokes prety good...we should be able to pull a few of em down...f### the winch! just use perlon on the axle and spin the tires...taht is the cheapest winch i know of... Guest Posted August 31, 2002 Posted August 31, 2002 Sounds like your truck is a good candidate fer the job. Does it go pretty fast in reverse? If it doesn't it may only get the chance to pull one pillar Quote
Fence_Sitter Posted August 31, 2002 Posted August 31, 2002 yah i gopt the C6 tranny in it...its only 3 speed...lotta torque...reverse is faster than drive... that is why if you see someone driving an f-250 backwards on highway 2 towards index...it is none other than this fence sitta! Quote
Guest Posted August 31, 2002 Posted August 31, 2002 Alright, here's the plan FS: Â We'll meet at Vantage with your truck, my Bronco and a good bedload of dynamite (you'll have to sleep and eat catfood elsewhere until we use it all). If we go on a weekend when the weather is kinda crappy on the westside we'll have the opportunity to drag down some silly lycra wearing fools who might be bolted to the pillars. We'll start closest to the river and work our way up. If we have time we'll tear the Feathers down completely on our way out. Â Today sounds good, I get off work at 4pm (been here all night), you ready? Quote
Fence_Sitter Posted August 31, 2002 Posted August 31, 2002 one other problem tho' we need a bolt gun...we can reuse all the old bolts...aw fuck it...free solo... Quote
Guest Posted September 2, 2002 Posted September 2, 2002 We'll just move the anchors back one pillar, then lasso the old one's an timmmmber! We'll need a firehose to clean the choss out. Know any firefighters who climb? Quote
Fence_Sitter Posted September 3, 2002 Posted September 3, 2002 shit man you are thinking way too hard...they have laders...we'll just commondere a fire truck...that could get a lil' tricky though Quote
CraigA Posted October 16, 2002 Posted October 16, 2002 Why not start with the pillar that you can move with your feet from the top? I've heard there's one that's like that. It even has a bolted route up the side. Â Wait....I'm thinking evil......ok.....wait for someone to get halfway up and then the two of you walk over (from the top), sit on the ledge, lean back, prop feet on the pillar.......heavy sigh (it's been a hard day climbing (hey, is that a song)), and then slowly move your feet down to the side of the pillar AND PUSH LIKE AN SOB! That'll send the climber on one hell-of-a-ride!! Â Let me know how it goes!!! Quote
Flug Posted November 6, 2002 Posted November 6, 2002 You all must not know the latest news. This weekend some honed Seattlites were top roping some wicked routes on the feathers. Evidently they had tied their black lab to the first bolt on of a sport route. As some fellow climbers walked by the lab got all excited and pulled over half the feathers. Killed the lab, a real tragedy, the climbers,,,, no one has said. Flug Quote
