jane Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 I climbed south side of Hood on August the 5th. I reached the summit ridge before sun rise and hurried down before the rock fall started. The route was more challenging comparing to the early season photos. Quote
dhrmabum Posted August 9, 2010 Posted August 9, 2010 Yep, I was up there on Sat. the 7th, hiked to just below Crater Rock and had a fantastic ski down. Looked up and the route didn't look half bad. And, reading recent climber's comments on the registration sheets, looks like its still in, though following your early hour ascent is the way to go. Good job. Quote
tylertervooren Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 So it sounds like Late July through August is not a great time to climb Hood? Any suggestions on when it should start getting better again? Is there typically a good window in September or early-mid October? I'd love to get a Hood summit in this year, but I'm not real keen on dodging a ton of rock fall and I don't have enough Crevasse experience to risk it yet. Quote
