Anybody know about the bolted route by Tunnel Falls on the way up the Mt Defiance trail? Looks like 11ish?

Also wondering if anyone has explored the Wind Mountain area much and if there are any good routes there. Just always catches my eye as I'm zipping back and forth between Portland and Hood River.

Thanks for any info.

There are some bolted sport routes at the base of Wind Mt, you can see the bolts from Hwy 14 as you drive bye. I think they might be Wayne's routes? I've been wanting to go check them out. I've also read a TR or two here on Wind Mt. Wasn't it also Wayne that took a huge whipper there some years ago? Use the search function and you can dig it all up.

Just saw this thread..

The bolted routes at the base of Wind mt- south end are an upper road cut, They were interesting trad when I climbed there in the 90s. They are good climbs and interestingly enough , they are granite in nature! The upper wind mt clibs are looser basalt. There is an obvious dihedral that I was gunning for when the huge death whipper took place. Thanks again Tim.

Steve Elder the Kiwi hardman, later went back and did the route solo!
