Gaston Posted December 11, 2009 Posted December 11, 2009 Trip: Mt Baker - Coleman-Demming Ski Date: 12/10/2009 Trip Report: Today I skied up and down the Coleman Demming route to the summit plateau of Mt Baker. Lots of gross rain crust skiing. You can drive to within a five minute walk of the trailhead. I used the "Canadian Direct" approach, skinning straight up the creek after crossing the wooden footbridge at the start of the Heliotrope trail. The Cosley Houston is getting better, but the crux pitch is still a dagger/curtain affair. I took a picture and I will try to post it; if you really need it you can PM me and I'll email it to you. I wouldn't recommend traveling the Coleman glacier without flotation or a rope...preferably both. Also: some enticing ice climbing has formed up in the creeks uphill/west of the road. Quote
