96avs01 Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Can anyone chime in with current conditions on the Emmons/Winthrop route? Also, would really like to know where the good snow for skiing/boarding starts and approx. time of softening. TIA Quote
Cobra_Commander Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 I skied this with some friends last Tuesday. The route was in great shape and very direct. Trail to Glacier Basin was ~40% snow. We started at 5am from Schurman. A little ice up high, but nothing unexpected. The entire corridor was pretty damn sweet. Inter was closed up and we could open it up and have fun from the top of Steamboat. Making the most of the weather at Schurman: The route: Quote

The Cascade Kid Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 do you know if this route is typically busy over 4th of july weekend more so than any other time? also...perhaps this is the wrong forum for this question, but how do you manage the crevasse danger while skiing back down the route? -P Quote
