Crillz Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 What's the snow like without an earlier a.m. start? Is it easy walking w/out snow shoes or skis. Is it postholing madness? Chairpeak/Tooth area. Thanks for any info. Quote
NateF Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 This is week old info, but things were not very well consolidated last Friday. Light crust on top of mush. Was hugging the shadows while skinning to stay on the firmer stuff with a 10:30 start. Don't think it would have been fun without skis. Not sure what the recent snow/rain combo has done up there, but it's definitely a bit colder than last week, so I'd invoke the "you don't know till you go" rule unless someone has some more recent info. Have fun. Quote
cbcbd Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 On Monday it was rotten and wet. From this week's activities I would assume it would be even more rotten and wet. Had snowshoes but saw some postholing prints all the way up to Source lake so yeah, sure it can be done. Freezing levels are going to be above 5500' for the weekend. But yeah, don't know until you go... and report back what you find. Quote
