rangerskye Posted December 21, 2008 Posted December 21, 2008 Trip: [TR] Mt Si - Haystack Date: 12/20/2008 Trip Report: I know Si is pedestrian for these here forums, but thought the conditions might be of interest to some. Today I went out hoping to beat the forecast 4pm blizzard. I arrived at 9:30, hiked up and reached the summit plateau probably around 11:30. The Haystack had some nice snow in the back gullies, though I went through some post-holing to get there. In some areas the snow was pretty powdery but a bit of dry-tooling got me to the top. Great views all around, though hazier as the day went on. Back down and out before the snow hit Seattle. Haystack back: Gully snow: From N Bend: Gear Notes: Axe and helmet. Approach Notes: The trail has nice boot pack. Quote
