California Rock Trip July/August

Looking to head from Seattle to California for a rock trip the last week of july/first week of august and wanting to make it as cheap as possible. Anyone? If I find someone from Seattle who wants to get out there i'd be stoked to fly in and get a rental car otherwise i'm considering just buying a beater in

Sacramento and leaving it in my brothers driveway since it will probably pan out to be about the same price as often as i'm there.
