If the truth be known; and at the risk of sounding like a gear geek, I have (and use) 3 pairs of crampons. Light aluminums for general mountaineering and altitude, Rambo's for WI and my dear old Footfangs for alpine with steep, hard or rock sections.

 

I hope you have a good time out west. You should get some of those lazy Portland climbers to get out with you while you are there. I wish I could.
