Frikadeller Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 I picked up a pair of boots off e-bay a few months ago, and I am really digging them. They are flexible enough for comfortable hiking, yet accept a full step in crampon! It sure was a much lower cost IMO for a basically brand new summer mountaineering boot. Now, I am curious to what model they are, obviously they are Garmont, but they don't make these anymore, so there is no info on the Garmont web site. Maybe some of you gear minded folks around here know what these boots are. Quote
Mark_Husbands Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 don't know, but i think i would wear newmatics with those to avoid suprises...i'm pretty chicken though. Quote

So far they have been fine in the summer snow conditions, but I agree, In hard ice and styrofoam snow, they might not be the best, but then again, in those conditions, I would not wear these boots anyhow... jordop Posted August 27, 2007 Posted August 27, 2007 Those are the old Pinnacles. I have a pair - well built but pretty bare bones leather . . . not a lot of padding for big days - they tend to cut up the tops of my toes where the tongue seam ends, otherwise love em! Quote
