Jens Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Does the access fund have the political clout to lobby for the permanent removal of the gate at Bridge Creek Campground that blocks the road to the north side of the Stuart/ Colchuck area for much of the year? Could it be made a priority? I can make a very convincing argument (offline) that such a move would; have zero environmental impact, cost the forest service virtually nothing, wouldn't give the forest service many headaches, and would vastly increase the access for a variety of winter users. TrogdortheBurninator Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Are you suggesting they plow/maintin the road, or just remove the gate? Quote
catbirdseat Posted May 30, 2007 Posted May 30, 2007 Jens, you are dreaming! Are you on pain killers? Mountaineers creek would fill up with gapers driving off the road. Of course it would give the FS headaches. More like a huge migraine. Quote
sparkytheflash Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 jens are you aware that there is a mudslide halfway up? if they removed the gate then everyone would be parking at the mudslide. that would be a major headache for the forest service. Quote
marylou Posted June 2, 2007 Posted June 2, 2007 Hm...I don't think a convincing argument could be made that this wouldn't create huge problems with overly confident drivers. I hate gates as much as the next overly confident driver, but yeah, I can't see that happening there or pretty much anywhere else roads are gated seasonally to keep people from being idiotic. Quote
