JOES Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I am heading down to visit some family members in Palm Springs April 12-17th and am wondering if anyone else will be down there during this time and would be up for some climbing at J-Tree. I do a fair amount of climbing can lead on 5.8 and follow 5.10. I will be looking to climb for 1 or 2 days only so if anyone is down there and doesnt mind me joining there party please reply. Quote
Bigtree Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 April was good for me temp wise a few years back (although i still recall getting fried - bring sunscreen). Lots of climbers about as university has wrapped up by then so you shouldn't have trouble hooking up with some folks on site. Quote
Mike_G Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 April is a great month to be there, indeed, but temps can vary widely. Have you climbed at JTree before? The first time I went I was pretty solid leading 5.10 (sport, mostly at Smith), but got freaked out leading 5.6 and 5.7 at Josh. It's a different beast than what we have up here. Slabby, no holds, super run out, etc. Following or TR-ing was a blast, but leading "sport" routes took more cajones than I was used to. Â The trad there is amazing, and we've been exclusively bouldering the past couple of times we've been down there. It's an awesome place. Quote
JOES Posted March 10, 2007 Author Posted March 10, 2007 Thanks all for the info. I have never been there before but sounds like its a great place. i was also told there is lots of good climbing right next to the campground and if i went there i should have no problem finding some peeps to climb with. and last resort there is always boldering. kevbone Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 Just walk around in the camp site and ask if anyone needs a partner. You will find someone. Quote
