jfs1978
I have a potential job opportunity in Sandpoint. I don't know ANYthing about the area's climbing (if it has any...or if it is an unsung mecca of climbing/alpine utopia...). For someone in love with NW glaciated peaks, cragging, and moderate alpine rock what does N Idaho have to offer? How far to drive to good climbing areas? Bugaboos? Multi-pitch trad? Sport? What kind of climber community/network is there? thanks all.
NYC007
there is quite a bit of alpine around, close to the Bugaboos too. there is a few crags around. There is a small core crowd there, I think one or 2 post here. Look for Randall Greens Idaho Rock, out of print but easy to get. Library.. Marty
LaClede is the closest cragging with routes up to 13a or so (15min from sandpoint). Some chipped, some not. If you got a day then there's lots of established type trad routes at Chimney and lots still to be discovered up in the selkirks. You can go make a name for yourself. Lots of boulder problems up there as well, just got to go discover if that's your bag. Banff/Canmore area is only 5.5 or 6hrs and all the sport cliffs around spokane are 2hrs from sandpoint. Oh and Blowboarder lives there so you can contact him if you move. Consistent partners could be difficult. If you love the glaciated peaks then sandpoint could be your gig IMHO.
