lazyclimber Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Just broke in my new Venom hammer this last weekend and was impressed with the results. Great tool as a 2nd. It comes with BD's lockdown leash already attached and I found the leash easy to use and comfortable (all this considering the price of the Venom, $124.95'ish) The head swung well and balanced and stuck in the ice and snow great. The contoured head is also quite comfortable for a gloved hand. No complaints here. 2 thumbers up. Quote
catbirdseat Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 Roboboy had one of these for our climb on Saturday. He said he thought it was too light for water ice, but would be excellent as an alpine tool. Quote
dbconlin Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 yeah, but you cannot attach a grivel slider. Quote
TREETOAD Posted February 6, 2007 Posted February 6, 2007 I have these tools and like them except that I find when you plunge the shaft into the snow to the head and put weight on it the axe twists because of the curve. Other than that great, with the usual BD quality Quote
