Ptown_Climber1 Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 Hey guys, anyone been up around the West face of Hood lately? I'm planning to lead a climb through the LC in a couple weeks....planning on camping at the saddle; was wondering what the descent and traverse was like down and across the upper Reid....if anyone's been up the couloir lately, any updates on route condition are all the better. Thanks! Quote
ivan Posted January 30, 2007 Posted January 30, 2007 there's a tr in the oregon section on the sandy headwall - sounds to be in prime condition the descent off the i-rock gap is usually pretty icy and there's good exposure at the top - it's not that steep though - the glacier should have no crevasse issues till spring avoid turning uphill too early and climbing the reid headwall - keep traversing until you're basically all the way over to yocum's ridge Quote
Ptown_Climber1 Posted January 30, 2007 Author Posted January 30, 2007 Thanks Ivan...I just saw that trip report....some great pics there....yeah, I remember some of those gullies looking pretty tempting the last time I was up there. Good times. Quote
