WELCOME TO THE CASCADECLIMBERS.COM FORUMS   02/03/18

We have upgraded to new forum software as of late last year, and it makes everything here so much better!  It is now much easier to do pretty much anything, including write Trip Reports, sell gear, schedule climbing related events, and more. There is a new reputation system that allows for positive contributors to be recognized,  it is possible to tag content with identifiers, drag and drop in images, and it is much easier to embed multimedia content from Youtube, Vimeo, and more.  In all, the site is much more user friendly, bug free, and feature rich!   Whether you're a new user or a grizzled cascadeclimbers.com veteran, we think you'll love the new forums. Enjoy!

B.C. SELKIRKS - ADAMANT RANGE

Just got back from 10 days up in the Adamants. We were helicoptered in to Fairy Meadows in overcast conditions. Next day it dumped six inches of new snow. Skied the trees. Next day was clear, so we skied out to Pioneer Pass over the Granite Glacier. Icefall is visible but crevasses were mostly buried. Next day we skied through Friendship Col and climbed Pioneer and Sentinel peaks. Both had spectacular views of the rest of the Adamants (often called the mini-Chamonix of the Selkirks). If you want big walls to climb in an outrageous alpine setting, you'll find them here. Skied from the col back down to the meadows. Following day was spent yo-yoing some slopes, then a friend and I traversed the Adamants through Thor Pass, across the Adamant and Thor glaciers, over Azimuth ridge, and down to the base of Mount Sir Sandford to the Great Cairn Hut, where we weathered out a few storm days waiting for a break to get a helicopter in to get us out of there. Southern aspects were dangerous (deep faceted layers under a crust, and now loaded w/ new snow). A spectacular trip, good weather when we needed it.
