b-rock Posted March 19, 2002 Posted March 19, 2002 Tad - The typical winter route is via the Worm Flows from the Marble snow park. Usually plowed in the morning, but may be some time after a snowfall. Once above treeline the route is relatively straightforward up the various ridgelines to the summit. Yes, watch for avy danger, all the usual warnings apply. Have fun, might see you on Saturday. Quote
rbw1966 Posted March 19, 2002 Posted March 19, 2002 Monitor Ridge is pretty common in the winter as well. Try to find someone to drive you to the trailhead on a snowmachine. Quote
Tad Posted March 20, 2002 Author Posted March 20, 2002 Not familiar with the winter route on St. Helens. Planning a trip this weekend. Anyone have beta on potential/or typical avalanche prone areas? I know, the recent snows have increased the hazards in the Cascades and I have a watch on the usual www sites. Regardless, test pits are a must I'm sure. Any beta would be welcome. Thanks! Quote
Heavy_B Posted April 2, 2002 Posted April 2, 2002 Hey Tad - I'm heading down there tomorrow. Did you make it in there? How was it? Quote
