rhyang Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Just curious to know how the North Ridge of Baker is shaping up this year (saw something from a month ago about the Coleman Headwall) ... thinking of checking it out in early to mid August. Quote
kurthicks Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 the lower approach slopes are melted out, but one can get on the ridge by going A) around to the left of the toe of the ridge or B) climb near the rocks and hope the seracs don't fall on you. there isn't a lot of evidence of them being active recently though. either way the Coleman is still navigable. northvanclimber Posted July 27, 2006 Posted July 27, 2006 went up last august only to find the glacier approach almost impossible (well, at least extremely difficult when navigating by headlamp in the early hours). came back and did it this june. was much better... just depends on the conditions of the glacier.
