glennm Posted January 19, 2002 Posted January 19, 2002 Any beta on skiing some of the less traveled routes on Rainier such as Success glacier couloirs, Nisqually Gibralter Chute, Kautz Cleaver etc? Quote
Ed_Hobbick Posted January 20, 2002 Posted January 20, 2002 I don't know but I'll go. If there is a feasable route, of course. Quote
Backcountry Posted January 21, 2002 Posted January 21, 2002 I believe that if you go to http://www.crevasse.com you can see a picture that Mike Gauthier has of a climbing ranger dropping into the Nis-Gib chute on a snowboard. He'd be an excellent resource if you found him to ask about some nice lines on the mtn. Quote
JRCO Posted January 21, 2002 Posted January 21, 2002 I believe there is a book and a PBS show called "Skiing the Cascade Volcanoes" that my have some info. Quote
glennm Posted January 23, 2002 Author Posted January 23, 2002 Thanks Backcountry. Mike Gauthier has provided me a wealth of information on good descents on Rainier. I was fishing for some additional perspectives. Quote
hakioawa Posted January 23, 2002 Posted January 23, 2002 I'm planning on skiing Rainier in the Spring. Care to share what you found out? Quote
