Has anyone been in the area of Twin Lakes Rd? I'm sure the road itself isn't completely snowed in, but the Baker plows usually put a giant snow pile directly in front. I haven't been in the area since November. Any help, or if anyone heads to the Baker ski area this weekend. Thanks

I asked them why they put up that giant burm of snow there to block the road. The answer? They don't want people trying the road in the middle of the night and waking them up. Seriously. I thought that was pretty lame.

Why? The WSDOT has no business blocking access to a national forest road if we want to use it. Just like any other road - if you get stuck, that's your problem. When I used this road for access it probably would have only required 20 minuts of shoveling to get my car through. In the end I decided that it wasn't worth pissing people off to avoid driving an extra mile, esp. when I could walk it in the same time.

One valid reason may be to avoid the road being torn up, but that isn't the reason they gave me....

the piles of snow are gone. There are just two piles of dirt but you can get around them. Hannegan road is still blocked by snow piles but 15 min with a shovel would solve that problem. Drove 10.6km up the road to the Heliotrope TR today.

Anyone have an updated report on the road conditions following this weekend's snow dump. I'm curious about Twin Lakes Road, the road to Heliotrope TH or Hannegan Pass Road. Thanks!
