Dechristo Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 Dear Friends of Ice Climbing: The 11th annual Ouray Ice Festival was a huge success. From clinics to a field of international competitors, the weekend provided all who came with much to take home. Next year’s festival is already in the works, with many positive ideas being explored. We look forward to seeing you at that fest in January 2007 We are proud to announce that Bill Whitt will take over the reigns as president of the Ice Park and Ice Festival Board of Directors. Bill has been around since the park’s inception. He is the owner of the Victorian Inn, one of our yearly Ice Park sponsors. Bill will be working with a revamped board in the coming year. The board plans to make improvements to both the park and festival infrastructures. If you have an ideas or comments for the board, please let them know. Our e-mail is oipi@ouraynet.com Cold temperatures have kept our ice farmers Rob and Malcolm busy. The ice has been great through February and we have continued re-hydration. If cold weather patterns hold, we are looking at another 4 weeks of climbing. Please be sure to check conditions before making any major plans to ice climb at the park during March. From the ice side, (still love sticking my tongue to it) Erin Eddy Executive Director Quote
bcollins Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Was at the park 3/10-3/14 (other than a side trip to Telluride on Monday) Ice conditions were awesome with cold temps and snow flurries. The park was about 80% fat, also got up Camp Bird Mine road for some climbing at Skylight. Ouray rocks! Quote
