mdclimber Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 I'm contemplating a trip to the Canadian Rockies (done many North Cascades climbs but haven't made it there yet) during the last week of February. Objective is to maybe do a day of ice and a 2-3 day alpine summit. For those of you who have made the trip in past winters, I would be grateful for any guide recommendations in the area of Canmore, as well as recommendations on summit objectives that are realistic at the time of year. Thanks Quote
genepires Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 By guide reccomendation I assume you mean guide book? or guide service? Alpine climbing in feb is weather and avi dependant. Expect a ski ascent/descent unless you like post holing on avi slopes. I would say stay in the kanaskis on ridges. there is a recent thread on ice reccomendations that you can search for. I think it is in the ice forum. Quote
