lancegranite Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 The recient cold weather has created some fine ice climbing in the Spring mountains. We discovered this WI 2 and some super steep ice field climbing. ( think big 4 ice caves at 9,000 feet) Some steeper snow Topping out the discovery Quote
Jason_Martin Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 Russ, Where did you find that route? I soloed Little Falls last week as it was falling apart...fun for awhile anyway. Jason Quote
JoshK Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 ??? Where are there permanent snow patches near LV???? Quote
lancegranite Posted January 1, 2006 Author Posted January 1, 2006 Exactly. Mt. Charleston, 30 minutes from my house. This is the same falls 2 years ago, note the lack of 40 feet of snow nearly covering the ice. We are going to have a near- glacier if the gods bless us with another good winter. Quote
Andrew_R Posted January 1, 2006 Posted January 1, 2006 Nice work Russ that stuff acctually looks pretty decent, glad you're getting some good swingin in too Quote
lancegranite Posted January 1, 2006 Author Posted January 1, 2006 That's where I was when you called...sorry! Quote
Dru Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 i remember seeing some multipitch length ice in the back of oak creek canyon in a cold snap Quote
JoshK Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 Wow, fucking wild. I can't believe there is enough snow in the winter and enough protection from that hot sun to "grow" snow patches around there. Pretty neat, really! Quote
lancegranite Posted January 2, 2006 Author Posted January 2, 2006 yeah, it's pretty cool, the pictures caused a lot of excitement around the local crowd. Quote
